I know, I know. I'm a guy. Well so what?
I love the series, and for several reasons.
I wish to join the club.
I would technically be a merman of the North Atlantic since I'm located in PA.
But, what I wish to do is take the status of my MM fanfic's main character Taiki Yamada… and that is the Prince of the Surface, as well as the heir of the only-believed-previously-to-be-a-myth Black Pearl of the Surface Princesses. [all is made clear in the fanfic; the chapters are all in my gallery.]
So with that, I'd be an important Surface ally to all mermaids, and an exception to what endangers them; what I mean is, I may see them change from human from back to mermaid form or they may tell me that they are really mermaids, and they would not turn into seafoam/bubbles, for I'd have to keep my Idol identity a secret from the public.
